Eugenia Falls Engagement Session | Sarah & Kyle

Eugenia Falls Engagement Session

Shooting this Eugenia Falls Engagement session left me speechless. It included so many wonderful things: log cabins, tequila shots, waterfalls, hikes, being barefoot, fog, incoming storms and gave me two new friends.
Choosing a spot for your engagement session can feel a little daunting; especially when you're seeing so many engagement photos online in these gorgeous locations. I am always a huge fan of choosing a location that's personal and meaningful. Of course that doesn't mean it can't be gorgeous, but picking somewhere that holds a special place in your heart makes it easier to relax, showcases your genuine relationship and makes the photos that much more extraordinary. Sarah & Kyle combined the two for their engagement session: personal & gorgeous.
Kyle's family has a cottage not far from our home in grey highlands, and the two of them spend a lot of time in the area. We met for the first time in their log cabin on the lake and chatted about life, weddings, rock climbing and more adventures while they were still in their pjs. (My favorite kind of meeting!) Their wedding is taking place closer to where they live now, but they wanted to incorporate Eugenia into their photographs as it's been such an important place for the two of them and where they've had some major milestones together. We finished up the meeting by roughly planning the engagement session that would start out at Eugenia Falls; a place they know very well and a place that helped me fall in love with the area. These two managed to show me some secret spots around the falls that I hadn't discovered yet, opened up, giggled and adventured with me. We watched a storm roll in at the top of the ski hill and hung out together until we had absolutely no light left.
I'm so excited to be heading out tomorrow to photograph their backyard wedding., I'm also super excited to share more adventures with these two once they're officially a married couple!

Frances

I'm Frances-- a photographer with a fine art background and a serious soft spot for love, wide open spaces, wandering barefoot and giving epic hugs. I'm drawn to connections, anything outdoors, raw emotion, natural light and the human experience. I am a big believer in bear hugs, loving big, and making things by hand. I think I look ridiculous when I laugh, but it never stops me from doing so.

Photography for me is all about connection and creating a window into your lives for future generations to peer into. Every one and every relationship is unique. Your images should be too. Annie Leibovitz said it best "When I say I want to photograph someone, what it really means is that I'd like to know them." That is so true for me. I don't just want to photograph you, I want to know you.
