Emotional Northbrook Farm Wedding in Severn | MARISSA AND DJ
Colourful Diy outdoor wedding at northbrook farm
Marissa and DJ were not expecting to find marriage material on Tinder, but here we are at their wedding four years later! After getting ready with their friends and having an emotional moment with their parents, they hopped into a limo together. They headed to Couchiching Craft Brewing Co, the local pub in Orillia, for a pre-game pint and some quality time together. This was the perfect opportunity to do something just for them on their wedding day and have some time for just the two of them. It was also a great opportunity to get photos in a different location without dealing with the logistics of bringing the whole wedding party with us, or trying to sneak away in between ceremony and reception. We hopped back into the limo and headed over to their ceremony location in Severn.
Located in the serene countryside near Orillia, Ontario, Northbrook Farm offers a picturesque setting for couples seeking a charming and elegant outdoor wedding venue. Surrounded by lush greenery and mature trees, this charming farm provides an idyllic backdrop for couples looking to exchange their vows amidst natural beauty. The farm includes a stunning century farmhouse, expansive fields and rich gardens.
The ceremony was held outdoors in a clearing surrounded by mature trees and lush perennial gardens. Marissa opted for “wings” in lieu of a veil which gracefully trailed behind her as her dad walked her down the aisle. Everyone was moved to both tears and laughter by their vows. The ceremony felt quite intimate despite the number of people present.
After the ceremony, guests were treated to cocktails provided by The Wheeled Brew as family photos were taken in front of the stunning century old farmhouse. H’or d'oeuvres were passed and cigars were shared, as guests mingled on the grounds. Everyone danced their way into the large dining tent strung with Edison lights to celebrate. The space was filled with sturdy walnut chairs and harvest tables, beautifully decorated with flowers in amber glass jars by Art in Bloem. They brought their own DIY touch to it: DJ made a creative seating chart out of old records. Marissa designed all of the stationary and made a colourful fabric tapestry to hang over their table.
Towards the end of the day, we snuck out of the tent and explored the fields just beyond the gardens during golden hour. It’s the perfect spot since it’s close enough to walk to, but private enough to share a moment with your new spouse. We played in the glowing light and Marissa & DJ got a chance to catch their breath before heading back in for more speeches and dancing. I always recommend stealing away at some point during the reception in order to catch your breath. Golden hour is the perfect time for photos, but also to just take a minute to take everything in. The rest of the evening was filled with good food, many stories, hilarious shenanigans, and of course, dancing.
If you’re getting hitched, congratulations!!! I would love to be your gal! You can see more of my wedding photography portfolio or feel free to reach out to me to get the conversation started.
